We at Hush would like to share our amazing learning experience during our recent 10-day stay in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. This is our second visit there to complete our advanced training in minimally invasive procedures for both face and body contouring.
Our impressions of our visit remain true to all the hype about Korea being the undisputed centre of all things skincare and cosmetic. We had the opportunity to stay in Gangnam and any which way we looked, there’s a cosmetic clinic and retailer within shouting distance. It’s really an incredible experience. Not only is there a great demand for such procedures locally, but there’s also a vibrant cosmetic tourism from neighbouring countries like China, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
Demand for minimally invasive cosmetic procedures in Korea is on the rise and has overtaken the need for invasive surgeries. This decline in invasive plastic surgeries is due to the innovative and creative ways doctors have come up with to produce the desired cosmetic outcome without having to go under the knife. As a result, these treatments have lower costs, a better safety profile and minimal downtime.
It was a truly valuable, eye opening experience for us to be able to shadow and train hands-on with the best in South Korea. Not only was Dr Han-Jin Kwon a great teacher, but there were also many other doctors from around the world that shared their expertise during the training. There was Dr Anna Marie Olsen (top notch thread-lifting expert from London and keynote speaker at AWMC Monaco), Dr Herbert Hooi (IFAAS faculty for PRP), and Dr Lee Seng Khoo (Pitanguy prodigy from Malaysia) just to name a few.
So what did we learn that we are dying to share with our esteemed clients at Hush? Basically, it’s all a manner of lifting and contouring using a multi pronged approach that involves PDO threads, Fillers, Botox, fat lipolysis and electronic devices, for head to toe contouring and rejuvenation. Off these, I would like to give special mention to PDO threads, which I see is the way of the future for non surgical lift and contouring.
PDO threads have yet to be Health Canada approved, but they have overtaken the world by storm. It is easy to see why the treatment is well loved and requested by patients. It can give lift and contouring like no fillers can. It is also safer to administer than fillers, and it has longevity of up to 2 years. The beauty of it is it gives a very natural result, unlike the sometimes “overdone” look that fillers can give when too much is injected by less discerning practitioners. For the benefit of my local readers here who are new to the idea of threadlifting I will give a link here to my website that explains further about PDO threads and what they can do (https://hushonline.ca/). Currently, the US FDA has approved such threads for use, and I suspect it would be a few more months before we get the green light in Canada.
We spent a total of 10 days in Seoul learning all we could, and our take home message is there is not one standard approach to face and body non surgical rejuvenation in order to achieve optimal results. It is multi pronged; utilizing all manners of techniques and devices; customized to each individual’s uniqueness. Come in for a comprehensive consultation with Dr Rose to see how we can help you. You can be assured of a customized approach that aligns with your personal goals.
